Our Place of Refuge Inc. was founded with a deep understanding of what it means to feel unseen, unsupported, and in need of a second chance. Inspired by personal experiences of trauma, survival, and the life-changing support of one woman who believed in her, our founder, Sharon Dixon, created this nonprofit to be that same source of hope for others. Our mission is to provide transitional housing and compassionate support to women—whether they are ex-offenders or veterans—who are rebuilding their lives after hardship. We believe that with the right environment, encouragement, and access to resources, every woman has the power to heal, grow, and rise beyond her past. Our Place of Refuge is more than a program—it’s a place where pain turns into purpose, and where new beginnings take root.
